Covid-19 Response and Announcements – Updated June 1st 2020

Wilbur’s Wildlife are continuing to monitor the increasing threat posed by the Covid-19 virus. This page will provide updates on our current operations and our response to the outbreak.

At present the two main messages we are sharing are:

  • All presentations currently scheduled will go ahead and we continue to accept future bookings. We have two exceptions to this.
  • All aged care bookings are cancelled until we receive advice from SA Health that it is safe to recommence these. Once we recommence aged care bookings we will be fully compliant with the requirement for all staff to have the flu shot.
  • All bookings must comply with social distancing and group number restrictions.

  • We will accept any cancellations necessary either through government mandates without charge. All other cancellations are now once again subject to cancellation fees.

How are we adapting our presentations for Covid-19

  • We are continuing to operate presentations outside of aged care homes.
  • We have created a show layout that allows for social distancing. We will seat students participating 1.5m apart. They will be able to hear using our speaker and microphone.
  • We are requiring all participants to use hand sanitizer at the start of the presentation to reduce risk of virus transmission.
  • At present the best information we have available is that animal to human transmission is not occurring. We will continue to monitor this information but feel safe that having our animals visit you does not present a transmission risk.
  • All staff will be required to stay home if they show any signs of illness developing.
  • We have completed our Covid Safe Plan and submitted this to the state government.
  • We will be required to collect details of any person who attends our presentations. These will be stored as per our privacy policy and then destroyed securely after 3 weeks.

Official Coronavirus Statement – June 1st 2020

Below is the document which is now being sent to all persons who book a presentation. This is one of the precautions which we have put in place as we return to presentations on June 1st 2020. We are now available to booked for any presentation which can comply with the below.

Wilbur’s Wildlife are committed to conducting our presentations in our safe manner and playing our part to stop the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. We are continually monitoring the health advice provided by governments and working to comply with all legal obligations.

As part of this we are providing this document to all bookings to make you aware of the precautions we are taking and any steps which we require you as the person booking the presentation to take to help us meet these obligations.

Contact Tracing

Wilbur’s Wildlife are required to keep details of any participants of a physical presentation for 3 weeks from the date of the booking. This is required for all bookings and we will ask you to provide these details to us.

At this point we require the name of any person present during the length of the presentation along with a phone number and email address for this.

Physical Distancing

At all times during the presentation we ask that participants are seated 1.5m apart and that there is only one person per 4sqm when indoors to maintain physical distancing.

Covid Safe Plan

As mandated by the state government as part of Stage 2 opening restrictions we have completed our Covid Safe Plan and can provide this on request.

Non Attendance when Sick

If at any point a Wilbur’s Wildlife staff member presents with any Covid-19 symptoms we will ask them to cease work. As such we may need to reschedule presentations and this may be with short notice. We ask for your understand if we need to undertake this to ensure public safety.

Likewise we ask that if any participants present with Covid symptoms they are removed from the presentation.

Cancellations

At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic we waived all cancellation fees for our presentations to give those who had booked display’s the opportunity to plan without concern their response to Covid. As this has now progressed and we have clearer guidelines around what is and isn’t allowed these fees have been reinstated.

We remain committed to working with our customers to ensure that you can enjoy one of our presentations. In the event that restrictions change quickly or a facility we are meant to is closed due to a new Covid outbreak we will work with you to rebook your presentation without additional cost.

We are always happy to help so please call us if your situation changes and we can find a mutually agreeable solution.

Restrictions on Bookings

Aged Care

At present we are unable to provide presentations at aged care facilities due to the increased risk if the disease was contracted by a resident. We continue to take government advice on when this will be safe to provide again.

While we cannot provide physical visits we are providing presentations online through Zoom.

Number Restrictions

We are unable to accept private bookings for groups of more than 20 people indoors.

Animal Transmission of Covid-19

At present no species which we use within our presentation are suspected of being able to contract Covid-19 and as such there is a minimal risk of the animal’s transferring the disease. We continue to monitor this and will update if any new information comes to life.

With the ever evolving situation this information may change before your visit. We will contact you to inform you of any changes up until your booking date.Thank you for your assistance with helping to stop the spread and we look forward to visiting your group.
